Product

Today's product review focusses on accessories from Dark Knot, an outlet for gentlemen's ties, lapel pins and pocket squares to pep up your daily looks and help you to stand out from the crowd.

You're able to buy an item just on it's own or alternatively they offer a starter kit and a tie subscription where you are sent a surprise tie every month for just $62.00

The ties and pockets squares are predominantly silk, so they're utilising some great materials which shows that they're serious about the quality of the products that they're offering us.

Not only this but they are a supporter of a great charity and for every tie that you buy you'll be helping an underprivileged child receive an education.

Another great little thing that The Dark Knot does is include some cool little details with their ties. When you open your box you find a guide on how to wear and match your tie and a great little tool for securing the tie to your shirt to stop it flopping into your morning espresso!

Price

Ties range from $55.00 to $85.00 (£40 to £61)The pocket squares sit at $39.00 (£28.00) and the lapel pins sell at $29.00 (£20.00). These prices may not suit every budget but the products on offer are more unusual than others I have seen and they are all very well made.

For that price you also get style advice as the guys at The Dark Knot have also made a commitment to answer any styling questions a customer may have after purchasing their ties. That's not something you get with other brands!

Both the Tie Starter Kits and Tie Subscription Service come with a Free Style Consultation. With the Tie Subscription Service, however, after you have decided on the 12 ties, they send one a month for which you will be charged monthly.

Starter Kits are for either just ties (three or six) or a mix of ties, pocket squares and lapel flowers. These range anywhere from 3-9 items in total, and also come with the Free Style Consultation. The difference here is that you are charged upfront for the full amount.

In either case, the Free Style Consultations greatly reduce the complexity of your online shopping experience, as the guys at The Dark Knot will help you choose ties & accessories that best complement your existing lifestyle & wardrobe.

The Free Style Consultation is conducted via email with a series of questions, and is an iterative process until you are completely satisfied with the Ties/Accessories that you have arrived at.

Packaging & Presentation

This is one area where The Dark Knot excel. I just love the packaging and the attention to detail that the guys have included.

The boxes are super sturdy and each item is lovingly wrapped in branded paper before being tied with ribbon and placed in it's box with handly little cards that help you match your tie and fold your pocket square! They really have thought of everything here.

Performance

The ties tied very well and stayed firmly in place. The tie loop also works superbly and neither my Son or I dipped our ties in our food!

The pocket squares folded well, stayed in position and looked great as did the lapel pins.

Pertinency

The Dark Knot products are suitable for any guy who wants to add a few dapper pieces to his outfit, to inject some individuality and personality in to what could easily be a boring suit.

If you're a guy who likes to stick to very plain accessories or who likes to wear a suit or jacket without them, The Dark Knot ins't a place for you. Having said that, while some of their designs are cool, colourful and funky, they do offer a more sedate selection and there will be something there for you.

Pro’s & Con’s

The pro's are clear; The Dark Knot offers an extensive range of ties and accessories from quirky to simple, their packaging is impeccable and their attention to detail leaves other brands in their wake.

There is a wide range of great ties available at The Dark Knot

When it comes to cons, I am honestly stumped. I want to be honest with you and I promise you that if I noted anything that could be improved or that I felt wasn't quite right I'd tell you, but I cannot think of anything. Truth.

I really like my yellow lapel pin

People

Harry and I wore our Dark Knot accessories to a family meal at a local seafood restaurant. When we walked in people remarked just how smart we looked and commented on our new accessories.

The team liked the pieces when put together as an ensemble and commented that without them the look would have been much less interesting and less 'dapper'

Katy was impressed with the quality of the products and gave them a once over looking for stray threads and snags. She found nothing.

Overall people really liked the products, in particular the packaging got a large thumbs up.

Précis

Overall I'm very impressed with the products from The Dark Knot. The range of items available is very good and what they offer in terms of after service, answering questions about how to style a product is a great concept.

I'd happily recommend The Dark Knot and wear their products with pride.
