Styling Jigsaw menswear at Old Spitalfields Market

Craig of That Dapper Chap styles two looks from the new range of menswear at the Jigsaw store in Old Spitalfields Market.

The stand alone Jigsaw menswear store in Old Spitalfields market

On my recent tour of Old Spitalfields Market I not only wandered around the many market stalls but also took time to browse and shop in the stores surrounding the market, one of which was Jigsaw, the luxury clothing brand. Set in a great little stand alone menswear only store in Lamb Street, I was shown around the collection and took some pieces to style.

A great range of Oxford shirts are available for SS17 at Jigsaw

Cheaney Shoes at Old Spitalfields Market

Craig of That Dapper Chap visits Cheaney shoes in Old Spitalfields Market and takes advantage of a hand shoe shine.

With over 130 years of shoe making experience under their belts Joseph Cheaney & Sons are a well respected heritage British brand. With 120 staff hand making shoes at their factory in Desborough, it's great to see that the UK can still have a thriving industry like this and I am hugely supportive of it, hence my desire to share it with you.

So, during my recent visit to London's Old Spitalfields Market I stopped off at the Joseph Cheaney & Sons store on Brushfield Street, not only to paw over the beautifully made shoes, but to get a finger polish from the store Manager Ian Bartlett. Barty (as he is known to his friends) knows a lot about shoes and the history of Cheaney, so while I browsed he shared details of their rise and fall through the decades to where they are now.

A new style by Murdock London of Old Spitalfields Market

Craig of That Dapper Chap get a new hair style courtesy of Murdock London, in Old Spitalfields Market, and reviews their beard cream.

With seven stores in London and one in Paris Murdock London offer that traditional barber shop treatment that's been missing from a gentleman's grooming regime. With wet shaves, beard trims and full restyles Murdock London "form the foundations of confidence a man needs to stride through life’s adventures" Their words, not mine.

Sitting at the front of the Hackett store on Brushfield Street, you can get a new do and a new outfit all in one place! My barber for the afternoon was Anthony Komodikis, a charming fellow sporting a Hackett bow tie and wool waistcoat. With 14 years' experience under his belt I was in good hands. So trustworthy in fact that I was happy for him to give me a complete restyle.

Old Spitalfields Market

Craig of That Dapper Chap visits London's Old Spitalfields Market and takes lunch at Blixen

Just a few of the great stores that you'll find at Old Spitalfields Market

There's been a market on the site of the Old Spitalfields market for nearly 400 years, needless to say much has changed since then and while you're able to buy chicken in various different foods from a wealth of street food vendors, you'll no longer see live trading as there once was when the market first set up in 1638! Once on London's outskirts, the market is now very central and is just a few minutes walk from Liverpool Street station.

Shopping in Hackett where they hold rum tasting and backgammon evenings
