That Dapper Chap takes a look at Hammond & Co clothing and creates some looks with pieces from the range.

As a dapper chap I have been an avid fan of the Hammond & Co range of menswear available at Debenhams for sometime now. Created by Patrick Grant, it's classic British style and heritage feel make it a range suitable for all gentlemen.
Patrick Grant
Hammond & Co. was founded by Robert Hammond around 1776, beginning life in the form of a celebrated London sporting tailor.
Tailors to King Edward VII, King George V, Queen Victoria, the King of Belgium, the Emperor of Austria, the King of Spain and the King of Portugal, other celebrated customers included Parisian couturier and founder of modern fashion, Paul Poiret, together with the United States of America's greatest ever military leader, General John J Pershing.

The Hammond & Co range is now being designed by British designer and Savile Row Tailor Patrick Grant. Patrick is also well known for being a judge on TV's, The Great British Sewing Bee.
Today Patrick Grant continues to build upon Hammond & Co.'s standout heritage through the design of highly sought after collections that beautifully encompass quintessential British style.
My Look with Hammond & Co
After choosing a few items from the range, like a cat landing on my feet, I was fortunate enough to be contacted by Matt Brooke an incredibly talented photographer with a huge portfolio and wealth of experience, working with stars, famous models and brands across the globe. Was I going to turn down the opportunity to have a few shots taken? Not likely!

The Chiltern Blazer & Waistcoat
Both are a regular fit and have single button fastening, making for a classic silhouette. The waistcoat has notched lapel, which again lends itself to a heritage look, great for those guys who like a vintage feel.
The navy fabric has a textured effect, adding depth and interest to what could be a standard navy suit. With 27% wool, 47% linen and 26% polyester it's easy to wear, relatively lightweight and good for those 'in between' seasons.

In addition to the blazer and waistcoat Hammond & Co offer matching trousers. While I didn't get these I'm now thinking that I should, as I can then take advantage of having a full three piece suit. This can be worn as one, or split up and incorporated in different looks, wearing the waistcoat with jeans for a more casual look for example.

Both items are dry clean only, as you'd expect from an item of this nature. and they also come in a 'big and tall' option for the larger gents among us.

The Shirt
I've always liked pink with navy, and 'real men wear pink' right? This is the 'Eden' shirt in a pale pink check.
Also available in 'big and tall' sizes, the check on the shirt is very subtle, adding interest without being distracting. With a three point button down collar I did struggle to get the button at the nape of the neck done up after adding my bow tie.

In a regular fit with single button cuff and a chest pocket the shirt is made from 100% cotton. It is a very light weight cotton, perfect for the coming months and versatile enough to wear with a full suit or with jeans or chinos for a more relaxed look.

The Bow Tie
Being That Dapper Chap I had to wear a bow tie didn't I! Patrick has added a few to the range in various colours. I'm a little disappointed, that considering his background that he opted for pre-tied bow ties rather than the self tie versions. There are nine in the current range and all are pre tied.

Nevertheless, I now have one in my armoury. I opted for the burgundy knitted bow tie in 100% polyester. It would have been great for it to be in silk which would have given a more luxurious feel to it.
The bow tie is fully adjustable and once you've set it to the size of your neck, that's it, you're done. So, while I do like a self tie bow tie, this option is way less fiddly and time consuming, particularly for those gents who want to achieve the look but are too sausage fingered or busy to faff around with a self tie option.

Other Items For The Looks
In addition to the Hammond & Co shirt, waistcoat, blazer and tie I wore a diamond top felt pork pie hat £32.95 by Jaxon, and a paisley patterned silk scarf £44.99 by Tootal Scarves. Altogether this creates a very dapper look which can take you straight from that candle lit meal to the opera.
Footwear was a burgundy tassel loafer £75.00 by Next, sockless despite the rain, and I wore my favorite navy chinos, £31.50 from Racing Green rather than a dressier trouser for some contrast and modernity.
