Mini Me with Next Suiting

Craig of That Dapper Chap shows us suiting by Next in this 'Mini Me' Fathers Day blog post

Fathers Day, that one day every year where you get to do nothing! breakfast in bed, coffee on demand and full control of the TV remote control (if you're lucky)

People tell me that my Son and I look alike, we have no real idea where his red hair comes from, maybe it's the Irish heritage, but in a lot of ways, especially our humour, our tendency to be a little grumpy in the mornings, and our style, we're very much alike. The acorn doesn't fall far from the tree.

What I Wore Today #52

Craig of That Dapper Chap shares what he wore today and features a traditional brown check wool suit from Next.

Being a typical Brit, the weather is one of those subjects that instantly springs to mind. Living in a country where we can 'enjoy' all four seasons in one day (and that is not an exaggeration) it's a subject that's close to our hearts. So, in my typical Brit fashion I'll start with a note on the weather!

I remember only a few short years ago that I got sunburned in April, this year it's fair to say that temperatures are less than usually seasonal, hence me reaching for a wool three piece suit!

What I Wore Today #50

Craig of That Dapper Chap shares today's look including clothing from Hammond & Co, Burton & Next with watch by Ice Watch

Today I decided to wear what I like to refer to as a 'relaxed dapper' look. The blazer, waistcoat and bow tie make the look super dapper but the jeans give the look a less formal and more relaxed look than it would have had if I'd worn the matching suit trousers.

Next Menswear in Marrakech

Craig of That Dapper Chap wears Next menswear in Marrakesh and gives us his top five things to do when you visit

In the last post featuring my trip to Marrakech I wore clothing by Burton Menswear, this time around the look is by Next and offers a more traditional British approach. Think 'An Englishman abroad'

The flat lay of my Moroccan outfit, all from Next

This look is all about the 100% cotton light stone suit. Slim fit and breathable it works well in the Moroccan heat. What's more you don't need to just stop at the jacket and trousers as the suit is a mix and match suit and also comes with matching waistcoat and shorts!

One Blazer, Three Looks - Look 3

CRAIG OF THAT DAPPER CHAP SHOWS US THE LAST IN THIS THREE PART SERIES WHERE HE CREATES THREE VERY DIFFERENT LOOKS WITH ONE BLAZER.

This final look falls somewhere between the smart look and that casual looks that I created for you previously. This look will suit a lot of less formal offices, and will also be great for the pub or a casual meal where you want to look good but don't need to be over dressed.

One Blazer, Three Looks with Next - Look 2

Craig of That Dapper Chap shows us the second in this three part series where he creates three very different looks with one blazer.

Welcome back to the 'One Blazer, Three Looks' series where I'm showing you three completely different looks with just one blazer. For guys who travel a lot or those of us that only want to take a cabin bag on that city break, being able to create different looks with just a few select items is a necessity.

Using the grey Italian linen slim fit blazer from Next this is the second look in the series. Part one which gives you a smart office or formal look can be found HERE. So, going to the opposite end of the sartorial scale I've created a very relaxed look again using items from Next.co.uk

One Blazer, Three looks with Next - Look 1

Craig of That Dapper Chap teams up with Next to give us three different looks with one blazer

Nearly every guy I know now has a blazer in their wardrobe, but from what I've seen most guys tend to wear it with the same thing every time they wear it. Maybe it's because it's a similar look to what they saw on the model on the website when they bought it, so they can trust that it's a look that works.

What I Wore Today #42 - The TM Lewin Shirt

Craig of That Dapper Chap shows us one of his daily looks in this #WhatIWoreToday post wearing a new shirt by TM Lewin

The styled up flat lay as seen on my Instagram page

The TM Lewin slim fit Geo print shirt £39.95
TM Lewin first opened in the famous Jermyn Street in London in 1898 and pioneered the button front shirt, since then they have built a reputation for quality menswear using some of the same techniques used all those years ago. With over 100 stores now in the UK you're never far away from being able to get yourself a great new shirt and any other piece of menswear that you may be in need of!

This wool blazer keep out the autumn chills

So, using the TM Lewin shirt as a basis for this look I went with a blue theme but wanted to bring in a bit more of a contrasting colour story with some deep red, complementing the navy and creating a bit more interest.

Since getting this blazer it's become a real favorite. It's a less formal style and has some quirky elements and design features that are missing from a lot of others out there. These little additions give the blazer a bit more personality and therefore you do too by default just by wearing it.

It's all in the details with buttons and wristwear

Walking the walk in this blue outfit for a chilly autumn day

Under the blazer I added a thick cotton waistcoat to add an additional layer against the chill in the autumnal air. Again in navy it continues the colour story and smartens the look up.  The red and blue diagonal striped tie also makes the look more formal and brings the colours directly together.

A better look at this heavy cotton waistcoat

The detail on the wool mix scarf

Maintaining that blue and burgundy theme, the scarf is another good addition and helps to tie the other elements together. The burgundy in the leather contrasting satchel again continues the theme and shows a considered effort of consistency.

Take a look at the foot of this post for details of brands and links for your to buy anything you like. See you again soon!

All the blues with just a touch of burgundy

The burgundy adds some contrast to an otherwise all blue outfit

Keep warm and button up

The whole look complete with burgundy accents

The polka dot socks ass some additional interest

I love the easy construction and shape of this wool blazer

The club style tie keeps the look office appropriate

The Next Spring Summer 2016 Press Day

Craig of That Dapper Chap attends the Next Spring Summer 2016 Press Day and previews menswear coming our way soon.

Mannequins dressed in SS16 attire

The latest Next press day was held at the beautiful Victoria House in London's Bloomsbury. A grade II listed building built in the 1920's, Victoria House has played host to a huge number of events, and I have been here on a few previous occasions attending events as part of London Collections: Men

Yours truly in full selfie mode

Spring 16 menswear sees a real shift in trends. The smart casual look that has reigned for many a season is now a thing of the past. Formal and casual have returned to heir rue forms with much more individual identities to differentiate that work to weekend wardrobe.

White soled brogues with contrast inserts

Formalwear takes a new direction for spring with key changes in colour, texture and silhouette. 'Past Modern' is Nexts sharp, hard edged tailoring story inspired by the rebellious attitude of the Teddy Boy and the rock and roll music. What would otherwise be a dark colour palette of charcoal greys and inky blues is given a fresh new slant with stones and neutrals.

Beautiful food was served throughout the day

When it comes to pattern, checks remain strongest; with prince of wales and windowpane still prominent, a micro gingham is introduced this season to add a new dimension. Neps and slubs are key yarns and can be seen in suiting and separates so attention to detail is a must with tailoring.

THIS jacket! Say goodbye to the bomber jacket!
Spring greens. A big colour for SS16
'The Revivalist' is the second formal story, think quintessentially British dapper gentleman. With a colour palate of fresh but earthy tomes, browns and taupes are grounded with pale blues and shades of grey.

Hues of blues in plain and stripes

The formal trouser continues to be a key item and the pleat makes a welcome return but now as much more of a styling feature on a slim, ankle grazer cut. Team these with the reinvented blazer in a new textured fabric to give a timeless yet modern look.

Suede moccasins are big for SS16

Now down to the footnote, loafers are the must have shoes for spring. Whether its high shine leather or a soft suede, tassels or saddle detail - Be sure to complete your outfit with a pair of these.

This season we have a return to a true casualwear with laundering and washing across all product areas. 'Neutrality' sees a utilitarian based story given an urban feeling. With a predominantly navy, black and grey colour palette this makes a great transitional story, adding highlights of oatmeal and tobacco to give it that fresh update for spring.

Suiting for spring is a staple from Next

Neutral and natural shades make a smart look

Print is a key focus, from geometric jacquards and stripes to clean texture and blurred polkadots on everything from knitwear and tees to casual shirts.

On legs the five pocket jeans are the go to style but with greyed off tones and ecru added to the mix. It's all about layering for 'Neutrality', the bomber silhouette in outerwear, knitwear and jersey is paired with longline knits and tees to create this look.

'Shoreline' demonstrates the emphasis on blue tones for spring. Ranging from deep dark navy, to indigo and bleached out pale shades it's the colour of the season. This story has a real coastal influence, with the Breton stripe being of huge importance, seen in all variations of width and paired down with an ankle grazing turned up chino.

Next continue to make a huge dent in the market with their suiting
Just a look I threw together

Harrington jackets are thrown over the shoulders for those windy beach days and the boat shoe is no more. It's all about a driver on the casual footwear front this season.
