London Collections: Men - Day 1

Craig of That Dapper Chap takes us to the shows and presentations on day one of this seasons London Collections: Men

I can't believe that it's been six months since the last London Collections: Men. With new designers and new locations I was excited to once again be a part of it.

My LC:M started on Thursday night with the Noose & Monkey pre LC:M party where they showed off their new collection. Check out my blog post on it HERE

So, on Friday morning we rose from our slumber, enjoyed a hearty breakfast (you just never know when you're going to get to eat again at LC:M!) and jumped on the tube, ready for the opening event: The Topman catwalk show.

TOPMAN

wearing my Topman stone linen double breasted suit, I made my way to my seat. The lights dimmed and video screen on the ceiling tilted and shone light onto the catwalk. Time for the show.

This collection for SS17 was a celebration of Britain and its beautiful seaside towns. With a nostalgic vibe there were influences from the teddy boy and mod era. The 80's vibe continues too but given a sharp British twist and we saw a slim, narrow silhouette.

The Noose & Monkey Pre LCM Collection Launch Party

Craig of That Dapper Chap attends the Pre-LC:M new collection Launch Party with Noose & Monkey

Models wearing Noose & Monkey and working the camera

Noose & Monkey have been on my sartorial radar for some time now. You'll have seen their concessions in Topman stores, ASOS and Zalando, and been drawn to their bold colours, big check, floral prints and double breasted waistcoats.

When I was invited to view their new collection at their pre-LC:M party I of course jumped at the chance.

Yours truly enjoying the new collection and of course wearing Noose & Monkey

The Mr Porter Summer Social

Craig of That Dapper Chap attends the Mr Porter Summer Social on the roof of London's Ham Yard Hotel in Soho.

the bow tie boys, suited and booted for a summer party

It'd been raining all day. Persistently. What a great day for the Mr Porter rooftop summer party I thought! Running to the train in light coloured linen trousers I was desperate not to get them wet. Half way to London and the sun made an appearance and the rain stopped. I crossed my fingers in hope that the rain would hold off and I'm pleased to say that it did!

Cocktails help make the Mr Porter summer social a very summery event

Next Menswear in Marrakech

Craig of That Dapper Chap wears Next menswear in Marrakesh and gives us his top five things to do when you visit

In the last post featuring my trip to Marrakech I wore clothing by Burton Menswear, this time around the look is by Next and offers a more traditional British approach. Think 'An Englishman abroad'

The flat lay of my Moroccan outfit, all from Next

This look is all about the 100% cotton light stone suit. Slim fit and breathable it works well in the Moroccan heat. What's more you don't need to just stop at the jacket and trousers as the suit is a mix and match suit and also comes with matching waistcoat and shorts!

The Mr Porter London Nocturne

Craig of That Dapper Chap attends the London Nocturne cycle races as a guest of Mr Porter

Slap bang in the heart of London's financial district, and with the magnificent iconic landmark of St Pauls Cathedral looming majestically on the landscape, Mr Porter hosted the annual Nocturne cycles races.

Since humble beginning in 2007, the London Nocturne has grown and evolved significantly and now boasts an extravaganza of cycling, establishing itself a reputation for first class city bike racing.

Not all about cycling, Mr Porter showed some of their new collections

The Polo Ralph Lauren Boat Shoes

Craig of That Dapper Chaps shows us how he styled the Polo Ralph Lauren boat shoes from Tessuti

I have to be honest with you Tessuti is not a name that I'd heard of previously, and I'm not sure how I have managed to miss it! Established in 1985 they now have fifteen stores across the UK and you can check for your nearest store HERE.

With a strong online presence too, they offer a huge range of designer clothing from the likes of Boss, Barbour, Michael Kors, Vivian Westwood and Paul Smith to name but a few, and they cater for men, women and kids.  Being a fan of Ralph Lauren I chose a pair of Polo boat shoes.
