The Farrell Tweed Suit Available from Primark

Craig from That Dapper Chap shows off his new tweed Farrell suit, available from Primark

Heritage style in a grey suit by Farrell
Farrell Menswear is a result of the collaboration between Primark and the international record-breaking musician, Robbie Williams. The line was originally created as a tribute to his grandfather, a notable dresser in his hometown in the north of England, Stoke on Trent.

The range now includes many very affordable items from sweaters to boots and shirts to suits. And with this wool suit coming in at £60.00 the quality and style you're getting for that price is incredible. Where else can you find a well fitted, heritage style suit with a high wool content for that amount?

Keeping with the heritage theme I chose some black high top boots and a vintage style paisley bow tie. The classic white shirt keeps the look clean and simple, and the burgundy accents in the lapel flower and pocket square lift the otherwise monochrome palette.

The silver watch fits the colour scheme and the grey cable knit scarf came along to keep out the Autumn chill, however it was an unexpectedly warm day so I didn't actually need it at all.

Good style can be achieved at an affordable price
This grey herringbone wool suit is a great buy. It's warm and comfortable and fits really well. Yes, the high wool content could make it a bit itchy for those gents with more sensitive skin, but the jacket is fully lined and the trousers are half lined. So Farrell really have thought of everything: fit, style and practicality.

Warm weather meant no need for the cable knit scarf

Look out for another post on Farrell Menswear soon when I'll show you a classic navy suit also at a great price!

The Denim Jeans Style Challenge - Look One

That Dapper Chap shares the first look in the denim style challenge, creating five looks from just two pairs of jeans.

This is a sponsored post of honest and unbiased opinion

Hi, thanks for checking back in for the first installment of the Next denim jeans style challenge. If you haven't already read the details of the challenge or the very interesting denim survey results by Burton Menswear, find it HERE

All photography by the very talented Ian Clark of PhotoByIan, check out his other work HERE

The two pairs of jeans from Next.co.uk that I used for the challenge

Look One - The Heritage Worker

The first look is a relaxed formal look. Being at the more formal end I opted for the smarter jeans which can be found HERE at £35.00.

With the vintage style grandad collar shirt and tweed waistcoat the look has a very heritage feel. The boots continue the theme and the trouser chain conjures images of a factory worker with his bunch of keys hanging from his waistband.

Change this look up by wearing a collared shirt and a tie.

A relaxed but more formal look

Relaxed but still smart enough for the workplace

Black leather brogue boot increase the formality of the look

The slim leg of the jeans keeps them neat

Barbour Celebrate 120 Fantastic Years

That Dapper Chap takes us on a tour of British heritage brand Barbour and joins in with their 120 year celebrations.

Barbour

A Heritage Brand

With three Royal Warrants under its belt and Brand Ambassadors such as Lord James Percy, The Household Cavalry Polo Team and the E. J. Churchill Shooting range, Barbour is a British institution with an incredible heritage.

While they sell a wide range of clothing and accessories for men, women and children, and now offer over 2,000 products, they are best known for their waxed jackets. So well-known in fact that more frequently than not, any waxed jacket is referred to as a ‘Barbour’ jacket regardless of who made it. When your name acts as a cover all for an entire product, you know you've made your mark.

The History of Barbour

Founded in 1894 in South Shields in the UK, Barbour still make new jackets at their factory and also repair existing ones. They handle an incredible 100,000 jackets every year, with all work still being completed by hand.

With 11 of its own stores across the UK, Barbour also sell their products via other well-known stores and some smaller boutiques. The larger stores include Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Harrods in the UK and Bloomingdales and Saks in the USA.

Celebrating 120 years

With 120 years of unrivalled success behind them Barbour rightly feel that now is the time to look back and share some of their heritage with a new generation, and in turn I’d like to share it with you. Pour yourself a cup of Earl Grey, grab a Garibaldi and enjoy the videos below.

No collar required

When I saw this heritage style, collarless grandad shirt on the Next website I had to get it. As you no doubt know by now, I'm a big fan of vintage and heritage styles and this shirt is certainly evocative of a past era.

There was once a time when you didn't wash your shirt until you really needed to, but you could easily detach your collar and give it a good scrub and starch it stiff before reattaching it with little collar studs.

Okay, so this shirt doesn't have a detachable collar or even the tiny holes where you would attach one, but it's style is so reminiscent of that time that it doesn't matter. You get the look without the fuss.

The blue suit is also from Next. Since buying it I've lost a little weight so I'm going to have the trousers tailored as I love it so much that I don't want to move it on. The navy suede brogues go well with the look and I added a touch of fun with some mis-matched striped socks.

The pocket watch is true vintage, bought from eBay from a great guy on eBay who buys and refurbishes old watches. It's an army issue pocket watch from 1954. As such, I don't class it as mine as the guy who had it before me had it for way longer than I have so I'm just it's guardian until time moves on. Tick tock, tick tock.

Bring out the tweed

I know it's still pretty warm in the UK but after a bit of a chill in the air yesterday I decided to bring back the tweed as I've missed wearing waistcoats and a heavy fabric. I just wished that I had known it was going to be 26 degrees today before I put it on. Note to self: check forecast before donning tweed!

This is a three piece suit and I was tempted to wear all three pieces but I'm bloody glad that I didn't now as all I'd be doing would be carrying it around like an accessory!  Speaking of accessories, today's included my favorite vintage watch and this amazing vintage briefcase that I picked up at a vintage fair last year.

The bow tie is also vintage and I think that all the accessories when added to this suit go to make a very heritage look, very British and very me.

Floral sock: Topman
