What I Wore Today #41 - Monochrome in Primark

Craig of That Dapper Chap shows us what he wore today wearing a monochrome look from Primark

This look was entirely built around this simply styled coat from Primark. With it's micro check and slim fit design its a coat that's going to look great through autumn and winter but will also take you into spring.

The coat is 31% wool and is fully lined. With a simple collar, two flap pockets at the hip and a breast pocket it has a very classic design and could have been purchased from any high end men's store.

I kept the styling simple to reflect he uncomplicated design of the coat and went for skinny fit jeans, boots and a slim fit white cotton shirt with black buttons.

MY TOP 5 SHOES AND BOOTS

Looking through the range it was difficult to select just five styles. There really is something for everyone on offer from Chatham. Yes, they cater for the more nautically inspired of us and boat shoes have been a real summer trend over the last couple of years. But, they also now offer something a little more 'country', in beautiful leathers and tweed, they are offering a real heritage look, suited to any gent, whether country or city.

Number 5 - The Nottingham Goodyear Welted Brogues

Available in black, tan and dark brown, the Nottingham brogue is a piece of hand crafted art that you get to wear on your feet. Nottingham is a Goodyear Welted brogue on a commando sole. Rugged, refined and above all, premium in every way. You simply cannot buy a more premium constructed shoe.

I like the chunky, solid aesthetic of these shoes and I can see them being a real staple over the coming winter months. They can just as easily be worn to the office with a suit or to the pub with jeans.

Number 4 - The York Goodyear Welted Brogue Boots

In dark brown or tan, these boots offer substance and style. Featuring the most durable, traditionally English, Goodyear Welted construction. York is a high ankle brogue boot on a commando rubber sole unit. Consider it a wardrobe investment that will pay dividends for years to come.

I love the height of this boot, it's not apologetic about its leg climbing abilities and it's going to feel really substantial on the foot. Again a piece of footwear that will suit most occasions.

Number 3 - The Gaff II G2 slip on boat shoe

Available in 'Seahorse' (brown below) or 'Walnut' (tan) the Gaff II G2 Slip-On Boat Shoe is essentially a penny loafer with boat shoe style. I'd suggest these for a less formal affair, for that weekend on the boat, maybe a bit of shopping in the town. The gaff G2 now features a new sole unit with enhanced grip. A triumph of British design and quality

These are bang on trend. Loafers are big news. Boat shoes are big news. So, why not have a combination of the two and be a bit different from the crowd?

Number 2 - The Drifter British Suede Wing Tip Shoe

I love these shoes! Available in burgundy or brown with turquoise elements, the Drifter Wing Tip Shoe is British made two tone split suede and is a high quality wing tip derby shoe made on a stacked leather heel with rubber top piece. With stitched through construction, and padding underfoot they are totally comfortable and totally stylish.

These have a real vintage look to them that really appeals to me. I can see them working well with a heavy tweed suit to the office, but equally dressed down with rolled up chinos and a chambray shirt under a vintage Harris tweed blazer.

Number 1 - The Stornoway High Ankle Tweed Brogue Boot

Well, what's not to like here? Meet the 'Stornoway' a high ankle Goodyear welted brogue on a commando sole. The upper features a combination of premium leather and British tweed from Lovat Mill.

If, like me you're passionate about quality and supporting British industry, these are a great option. Not only do they tick all of my moral boxes but the style boxes have been ticked for days! These will certainly stand out from the crowd. The combination of fine leather and tweed is truly inspired, and I can see myself wearing these time and time again over the next few months!

What I Wore Today #37 - Haberdash & Dune

That Dapper Chap shares todays look, in a luxury shirt and tie by Haberdash and black boots from Dune

The flat lay as see on my Instagram page

It's nice to have great quality clothing, something a little special that makes you feel great when you wear it. This pale blue cotton shirt is from Haberdash, a Chicago based clothing company synonymous with an authentic global approach to modern classic menswear. Haberdash blend Old World English tailored styling with Italian fabric ingenuity and American sportswear functionality.

The beautiful shirt & tie by Haberdash

As the cotton on this shirt is slightly thicker it lends itself perfectly to a chillier morning. A size medium, it's a little big on me around the body, although it fits well on the neck. I'm used to slim fit shirts but this Haberdash shirt is quite roomy, so if you have a bit more bulk than I do it may be a good option for you. A couple of my mates lift weights and they sometimes struggle to gets shirts that fit. If that's you too, give them a look.

The blue cardigan adds a pop of colour

I styled the shirt with a grey and blue skinny fit waistcoat and trousers. The blue lines in the check complimented the blue of the shirt and the dark buttons on the waistcoat makes it easy to wear a darker tie. To add a pop of colour and some additional interest I chose to wear a bright blue cardigan over the waistcoat instead of the suit jacket or coat.

Beaded wrist wear adds personality to your look

I accessorised with a selection of blue and grey beaded bracelets and my trusty Timex watch which I fitted with a blue nato strap. The blue beaded trouser chain is home made and hold my security pass and bank cards safely in my back pocket.

Time to take some pictures of todays look

Im ready Monday, what have you got for me?

The high shine black leather brogue boots are called 'Manhattan' They are by Dune and they make the perfect addition to a stylish wardrobe. It comes with a wingtip toecap, punch hole detail and lace up closure.

So suited and booted I was ready for whatever Monday had in store for me. Luckily it was kind and less stressful than others I've experienced and I hope your's was too!

The Farrell Tweed Suit Available from Primark

Craig from That Dapper Chap shows off his new tweed Farrell suit, available from Primark

Heritage style in a grey suit by Farrell
Farrell Menswear is a result of the collaboration between Primark and the international record-breaking musician, Robbie Williams. The line was originally created as a tribute to his grandfather, a notable dresser in his hometown in the north of England, Stoke on Trent.

The range now includes many very affordable items from sweaters to boots and shirts to suits. And with this wool suit coming in at £60.00 the quality and style you're getting for that price is incredible. Where else can you find a well fitted, heritage style suit with a high wool content for that amount?

A look at the black high top boots
A full look at this wool suit
Keeping with the heritage theme I chose some black high top boots and a vintage style paisley bow tie. The classic white shirt keeps the look clean and simple, and the burgundy accents in the lapel flower and pocket square lift the otherwise monochrome palette.

A closer look at today's watch

The silver watch fits the colour scheme and the grey cable knit scarf came along to keep out the Autumn chill, however it was an unexpectedly warm day so I didn't actually need it at all.

Good style can be achieved at an affordable price
This grey herringbone wool suit is a great buy. It's warm and comfortable and fits really well. Yes, the high wool content could make it a bit itchy for those gents with more sensitive skin, but the jacket is fully lined and the trousers are half lined. So Farrell really have thought of everything: fit, style and practicality.

A look at the paisley pocket square
Warm weather meant no need for the cable knit scarf
Attention to details: Farrell branded buttons

Look out for another post on Farrell Menswear soon when I'll show you a classic navy suit also at a great price!
