#WEARITWELL At The Timex Watch Event

Craig of That Dapper Chap attends the Timex party to view the latest collection from this American heritage brand

The new Timex Fairfield watch with interchangeable straps

It was a real honour to be invited to the Timex party a couple of weeks ago where I got the opportunity, not only to catch up with fellow bloggers, a cheerleader and a spaceman, but to also see the awesome new collections from this heritage brand.

I teamed up with talented photographer and friend Ian Clarke of PhotoByIan for the event. Ian has snapped me on many occasions for various fashion campaigns and he took the majority of the images for this post.

Yours truly snapped by Ian Clarke while Tweeting at the Timex event

Timex are a brand that have stood the test of time and have been providing us with great wrist watches since 1854. A few years on and I find myself on a London rooftop enjoying the latest collection and panoramic views London's iconic skyline. There may also have been a cocktail or two!

What I Wore Today #28

That Dapper Chap shows off his new two tone brogues by London Brogues in his latest outfit post

One of my most commented on pairs of shoes are a pair of tan leather and blue suede brogues by London Brogues. I thought they were the only ones but London Brogues offer five different varieties of two tone brogues along with three plain pairs in tan, black and dark brown.  Wanting another pair I chose the tan and black leather option which I think go really well with this outfit.

As the tan leather has a richness to its colour I chose orange accents to compliment the tan of the shoes and the chinos. keeping the look fairly formal I wore a blue unlined summer cotton blazer.

The orange paisley tie is a fun and funky addition, bringing some individuality to the look. The bracelets are hand made and continue the colour story as do the socks with their orange and blue stripes.

Break up the suit

I've written a couple of articles about how to wear a suit and split up the various elements, showing you how to wear them with different items to achieve as many different looks as possible. Doing this  makes your suit more versatile. Today's look shows that I do practice what I preach.

The trousers are a simple pair of navy chinos but the blazer is part of a wool three piece suit that I decided to wear. I've already worn the full suit this week but thought nothing of taking and wearing the jacket and nobody commented that it was the same jacket as the look is totally different.

I went with a bit of a red and blue theme and you can see that I used accessories to create a cohesive look. The nato watch strap, club tie and patterned socks all retain the colour story.

In addition to the watch strap, tie and socks I wore coloured bracelets, pocket square and an apple lapel pin to complete the look. The button down denim shirt making for a less formal but still smart look.

The braces may surprise you as they are a hybrid of new and vintage. They were a gift from a well known brand after I attended their recent press day but they had clip ends which I am really not a fan off. So, I rooted through my collection of vintage braces and found a pair which were a bit tatty. I removed the leather ends and swapped them over to the new pair, disposing of the clips I the process.

Calm camo

If you've been following my blog or have taken a look at the 'popular posts' section you'll know that these trousers have caused a bit of controversy in the past! That was the first time I had worn them and they have been neatly folded away in a draw ever since that day and I decided that it was time that they saw the light of day again. To hell with the haters!

This time I teamed them up with a plain white shirt, some tan leather brogues and a wool waistcoat which all go to keep the look smart.  To accessorise I added some bracelet and my trusty Timex with a camo strap.  I also opted for camo socks, I'm still not sure if that was a mistake. I'm not too concerned that it was too much but I was running late and just couldn't choose a pair!

I'm pleased to day that I received no derogatory remarks as I did last time. No shouts from mindless bigoted yobs and no negativity in general. Maybe because people knew what a debacle it was last time and didn't want  a repeat or to compound my tendency not to wear these trousers. Maybe they just slated me behind my back, who knows. Either way who cares! I like them.

Feel the teal

Following yesterday's need for tweed and the ensuing warmth that left me panting like a dog after a run on the beach in the noon sun, I decided for a more appropriate outfit today.

In this weather you can't go wrong with natural cotton and both the shirt and chinos are made from said fabric.

Being a little tired after being up until the early hours working on a new and exciting project (watch this space) I needed a sugar hit today and opted for Spelly Jellyies! While incredibly tempting to spell out four letter expletives, I refrained and spelled 'watch' I did intend to spell 'Timex' but there was no 'X'! But I definitely saw 'F' 'C' 'U' and 'K' so if I was wearing French Connection UK we'd have been okay! 😉. I also noted a 'C' 'U'........okay I'm going to stop now! Such fun!

Rock On

What is That Dapper Chap wearing a non dapper look? A dapper look this is not and I'll tell you why. A few days ago somebody mentioned my waistcoats and bow ties and commented that they wondered what I'd look like with a rocky look, much to the amusement of others around us. Challenge accepted I thought!!

This T-shirt is one I've owned for a while. A few years ago I wasn't so well groomed or as dapper as I appear now. I wore ripped jeans, scruffy converse, a rock t-shirts and a leather jacket. The ripped jeans have long gone, as has the leather jacket but I still like these type of T-shirts and do throw one one on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

The jeans are a skinny fit black stretch denim which I will wear with a shirt, waistcoat and a tie, maybe with a pair of black brogue boots but today was way too hot for anything other than an old well washed t-shirt and some worn in Chucks.
